Lip balms are anhydrous so they will not add water to lips, but they do help to lock in existing moisture by forming a protective lipid barrier on the surface of the lips. A lipid barrier prevents evaporation of moisture from lips into the environment which is the cause of dry, flaky and irritated lips.

Texture & Skin Feel
If you love lip balm you know finding the perfect texture isn’t easy!
We aimed for the Goldilocks texture in our formula:
A medium to heavy weight
Glossy, easy-glide on warm lips
Has body and a little tack to ensure it stays put for several hours
Not too thin that it migrates away from lips and not too waxy that it’s sticky or non-breathable
Has a slight opacifying effect when applied very heavy. Nearly clear when applied normally
Heat and sunlight can compromise product stability. Our lip balms have a high melting point but are still oil-based and will soften or melt in extremely hot conditions (like in a car in the summer)
This product is packaged in an eco-friendly push up tube made from paperboard instead of plastic. As such, please keep it away from water and intense moisture.

How to use our lip balms
The Ritual
1. Simply remove the cap and apply to lips when desired.
Avoid applying to wet lips.
Lip Balm is a great preventative protectant to keep lips from drying out. If your lips are already dry or irritated, you may want to apply a thick, gentle and unscented cream for 10-15 mintutes.
FAQ
How often should I use lip balm?
As much as you like! Unlike other skincare products, you can’t really overdo it with lip balm. Lip balms are a preventative product; they keep moisture in the lips and prevent them from drying out. However, they won’t ADD water to the lips so it’s best to use our lip balms regularly to prevent lips from drying out in the first place.
Is this formula vegan friendly?
It sure is! This formula features sunflower wax instead of beeswax. It’s a fantastic vegan-friendly wax produced by naturally winterizing sunflower seed oil. It has a high-melting point too which is bonus for keeping our lip balms from melting in the hot summer months!
Why is there a hole in the middle of my lip balm?
Awesome things sometimes have holes, like doughnuts! Sometimes ‘sinkholes’ form when hot wax and oils are poured into lip balm molds. It’s totally normal and doesn’t affect the quality of your product at all. In fact, it just goes to show that each lip balm is hand-poured and unique!
Will this hydrate my lips?
Technically, no. The word ‘hydrate’ is often used incorrectly in skincare vernacular. Oil-based products like lip balm (or salves) can’t hydrate skin, simply because they have no water in them to offer to skin. But they CAN help maintain hydration (ie. lock in the moisture that’s already present in the skin). This is what makes them a great preventative treatment to maintain healthy, hydrated tissues.
Why is it more expensive than typical lip balms?
In short, quality and quantity. Our tubes are 10 g but we fill them to approximately 11 grams. This is 2.5 times the amount of product than a typical plastic lip balm, which makes it roughly the same cost! But instead of common ingredients, we use premium ingredients like exotic tropical butters and expensive fruit seed oils. And finally we chose recyclable packaging which costs much more than common plastic tubes. We think you’ll find the price is totally fair for the quality and quantity you receive.
What are the lip balm scents made from?
100% botanically-sourced scents! You won’t find synthetic “aroma” “fragrance” or “flavor oils” in our lip balms, because who knows what’s even in those concoctions1? To create our subtle but delicious scents, we used naturally fragrant pressed seed oils from fruits and paired it with pure essential oils. Essential oils are distilled from real plant material like rinds, leaves, bark, petals and seeds to extract naturally occurring volatile oils (aka essential oils)
Needs some slip - probably better for summer for me.
I'm a pretty die hard Vervskin gal, this lip balm is good, but I think in terms of how it feels on the lips I enjoy a bit more slip. It's almost matte and resistant, which is good for some things, like under another lip product. For every day moisture though, it doesn't feel like it provides quite enough for me and my dry winter lips. I really love the scents though!

I really appreciat the honest review though and have been playing around with tweaking it just slightly for a more slip (but the trade-off is less heat resistance in hot weather). Do able though!
